Italian giant Camozzi Group: Unmasking their role in Ukraine’s conflict

The Ukrainian National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) has added Italy’s Camozzi Group to its list of international war sponsors, pointing to the company’s ongoing business operations in Russia, the agency’s press service said.

The Italian company was added to the list for its collaboration with the Russian military-industrial complex, and the operation of a plant in Ukraine’s Russian-occupied Crimea, NCAP said.

Camozzi Group is an international Italian conglomerate specializing in the production of pneumatic equipment and pneumatic systems, known for its expertise in this field. The company operates in 78 countries worldwide, including Russia. Camozzi’s factories did not cease their operations even after Russia initiated a full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Pneumatic equipment plays a crucial role in various industrial sectors, as it aids in the automation of work processes. Camozzi’s clients in Russia primarily include military-industrial complex facilities, the products of which are actively used in the war against Ukraine.

Furthermore, the Italian Camozzi Group has been collaborating with the sanctioned plants of Russian oligarchs Iskandar Mahmudov and Andrey Bokarev since the onset of the full-scale conflict, the NCAP said.

Despite the launch of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Camozzi Pneumatics Mechanical Assembly Plant in Simferopol continues its operations. Camozzi does not mention its involvement in Crimea on its official website, likely due to concerns about international condemnation.

In Russia, Camozzi operates through the LLC “Camozzi Pneumatics,” boasting 32 branches, a workforce of 500 employees, and a clientele of 80,000 companies. In addition to contributing taxes to the local government, the company provides employment opportunities for Russians, thereby bolstering the Russian economy and job market.

The Camozzi Group also has a presence in Ukraine, with Russian national Alexey Kistichenko currently serving as the head of Camozzi’s Russian representation, and remaining one of the founders of Camozzi’s legal entity in Ukraine.

Previously, the NACP added the Turkish chemical company Şişecam Group to the list of international entities sponsoring the ongoing conflict.

Despite this, the company continues to conduct business with Russia and remains the leading exporter in its sector within the country.
