Ukraine asks IAEA to check ZNPP: Russian is illegally building something there

The State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine stated that Russia has started illegal construction works in the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant and calls upon the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to check this.

Details: Korikov stated that Russia is engaged in illegal construction at the ZNPP but that Ukraine has no information on what is happening there.

Background:
Earlier, the G7 condemned the kidnapping of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant personnel by Russia and urged it to return full control over the plant to Ukraine.
Russians occupied the premises of the ZNPP on March 4; then, the plant again happened to be in the spotlight in early August, when Russians started shelling the power plant. Russia has been thwarting the calls for demilitarisation of the ZNPP, claiming it has to protect the plant from provocations, blaming Ukraine for the attacks.
On 25 August, the ZNPP was disconnected from power grid for the first time ever. Enerhodar Mayor Dmytro Orlov reported that it took place after the attacks, and Energoatom company said the disconnection was caused by fires.
On 1 October, Russians kidnapped Ihor Murashov, the ZNPP Director General. His whereabouts remained unknown until they released him on 3 October.
On 5 October, Vladimir Putin signed the decree, which stipulates that Russia would assume control over the ZNPP.
