Russia's war against Ukraine is in its fourth month

The president, while speaking to students of the Drohobych Lyceum in Lviv and Ukrainian children in Poland, was asked whether a missile defense system similar to the Israeli Iron Dome would appear in Ukraine.

“...We will build a modern air defense system,” he responded.

“It will be even stronger than the Iron Dome. The Israeli system won’t suit us, since the Kyiv region itself is as big as the country of Israel, if not bigger. And it’s incredibly important for us to create a modern, universal air defense system.”

On June 1, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz promised to provide Ukraine with modern IRIS-T air defense systems, which he described as “...able to defend an entire large city from Russian air attacks.”
