Ukraine’s cabinet replaces head of one of Naftogaz Group companies to solve fuel crisis

Volodymyr Tsependa replaces Havrylenko. The new head of Uktransnafta faces the task of resolving the fuel crisis – the company owns an oil pipeline that could help with this.

Officials also approved the terms of the contract with the new head, set the amount of his remuneration; and appointed a person authorized to sign a contract with the CEO on behalf of JSC Ukrtransnafta.

Naftogaz of Ukraine thanked Mykola Havrylenko for his cooperation and noted that Volodymyr Tsependa had worked at the Naftogaz Group for more than nine years. According to Serhiy Kuyun, director of the consulting company A-95, Tsependa's previous position was head of Ukrtransgaz's procurement department.

“The new leader faces an urgent and critical task – to be one of the main factors in resolving the fuel crisis in Ukraine in the coming weeks," said Naftogaz of Ukraine.

Havrylenko had headed Ukrtransnafta since the fall of 2015.

Uktransnafta is the second largest operator of the main oil pipeline system in Europe. The total length of oil pipelines is 4,700 kilometers. The founder and sole shareholder of the company is NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine.

In July 2021, Ukrtransnafta took over part of the Samara-Western Direction pipeline for five years. This pipeline is also known as the "Medvedchuk Pipeline". It pumped diesel fuel from Russia to Ukraine and Europe, and used to belong to Prykarpatzakhidtrans LLC.
