During a press briefing following the meeting, the minister told journalists that “he heard very important news about the so-called ‘bird coalition,’ or ‘fighter jet coalition.’

Ukraine’s allies have promised that they will start training Ukrainian pilots and will together “build a consortium of fighter jets,” he noted.

“It (the consortium) will start with F-16s (fighter jets) with the Netherlands and Denmark, with other countries joining,” Reznikov said.

“And we also heard good news from our Swedish partners that we’ll be able to test, just test their capabilities.”

The official added that he is “absolutely sure” that the fighter jet coalition will work in the same way as the coalition of tanks, air defense, artillery, and multiple launch rocket systems.

Brussels hosted the 13th Ramstein Defense Contact Group meeting on June 15, which involved more than 50 partner countries of Ukraine.

At least eight European countries joined the fighter jet coalition for Ukraine, led by the Netherlands and Denmark.

The United States said that allies would work in the coming months to determine when, who and how many planes would be transferred to Ukraine.

At the same time, the fighter jets will be supplied on the condition that Ukraine will not use them to strike the territory of Russia.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy earlier said that he could not state when and how many fighter jets would be handed over to Ukraine, noting that he would try to speed up their delivery.
