Ukraine deploys reserves to bolster Kupyansk front

Ukrainian forces are shifting reserves near Kupyansk, Kharkiv Oblast, to prevent further advance of Russian troops in the area, Ukraine’s Operational Command East spokesman Serhiy Cherevaty told Ukrainian TV broadcasters on Aug. 15.

According to him, clear and direct orders have been given to the Ukrainian forces to establish a layered defense around Kupyansk.

"We have strengthened our fire positions, provided certain methodological recommendations [to commanders on the ground], and shifted reserves, thus preventing the enemy's movement," said Cherevaty.

On Aug. 10, Cherevaty reported that Russian occupiers are using "meat grinder" assaults against the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the Kupyansk front.

On the same day, National Guard representative Ruslan Muzychuk stated that the Kupyansk direction remains the epicenter of military action, where the enemy continues to accumulate considerable forces.

Due to the intense fighting, mandatory evacuation of civilians has been ordered in the Kupyansk region.
