Ukraine dismissed head of its Economic Security Bureau – MP Zheleznyak

The President’s Office has decided to dismiss the chief of the Economic Security Bureau (ESB), Ukrainian MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak said in a Telegram post on Aug. 11.

Citing unnamed sources, Zheleznyak suggested the current acting ESB head, Yevhen Fedorov, will be replaced by Andriy Pashchuk.

“Of course, [this was done] without a competition or anything,” said Zheleznyak.

“This is already sixth change of leadership in the State Fiscal Service (later became ESB) over the past three years.”

Additionally, the MP shared that it’s not particularly important who the new President’s Office proxy in the agency will be.

Zheleznyak noted that on April 17, Fedorov became acting ESB head, before taking going on a vacation three months later.

As of July 31, the acting director did not return to work and went on sick leave.

According to Zheleznyak, the newly appointed acting head of the ESB has been serving in operational and managerial positions in law enforcement agencies since 1997.

Since 2012, Pashchuk worked in the Interior Ministry, serving as Deputy Head of the Department of the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime.
