The Ukrainian Armed Forces have successfullycompleted an operation on the left bank of the Dnipro River in Kherson Oblast, DeputyDefense Minister Hanna Malyar confirmed on Aug. 14.

“Certain tasks were performed by certain units there (on the left bank),” she said.

“Of course, we cannot reveal what exactly was done, but they coped with these tasks.”

The Ukrainian military still has to oust the Russian invaders and clear the territory to gain a foothold across the river, Malyar added.

Ukrainian troops successfully crossed the river to the village of Kozachi Laheri, taking advantage of weakened Russian defenses in the area, the U.S.-based Institute for the Study of War reported on Aug. 9.

“Ukrainian forces appear to have conducted a limited raid across the Dnipro River and landed on the east (left) bank of Kherson Oblast, although it remains unclear whether Ukrainian troops have established an enduring presence on the east bank,” the ISW said.

Ukraine’s General Staff has not confirmed this information.
