Ukraine gets NASAMS, Putin’s partial mobilization goes poorly, and global economy falls more than expected

The system is effective against UAVs, helicopters, cruise missiles, and aircraft.
UN humanitarian coordinator Denise Brown stated that the UN and other organizations aid workers had no access to the territories of Kharkiv Oblast during the Russian occupation. Only in mid-September did the aid workers started delivering life-saving items, just days after the Ukrainian government announced it had regained control of the oblast in the middle of this month.

Meanwhile, Russians are going to extreme lengths to avoid being drafted – one man set himself on fire, while another shot a military commissar at a recruiting station.
According to Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Aibek Smadiyarov, “Kazakhstan adheres to the principle of territorial integrity of the states, their sovereign equality and peaceful coexistence.” According to U.S. television news channel CNN, Smadiyarov also reaffirmed the government’s readiness to provide assistance to the promotion of political dialogue, adding that “Kazakhstan believes that maintaining stability at the regional and global levels is of paramount importance.”
In the second quarter of 2022, Ukrainians borrowed UAH 1.3 billion from microfinance organizations, while last year this amount was UAH 16.2 billion. For the 2nd quarter of 2022, a little more than 355,000 contracts were signed. This is half the average number of contracts per month in the first quarter of 2022 and 3.3 times less than the average number of contracts per month last year.
While global growth this year was still expected at 3%, it is now projected to slow to 2.2% in 2023, revised down from a forecast in June of 2.8%, the OECD said. “The global economy has lost momentum in the wake of Russia’s unprovoked, unjustifiable and illegal war of aggression against Ukraine. GDP growth has stalled in many economies and economic indicators point to an extended slowdown,” OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann said in a statement.
