Ukraine gives Canada its military ‘Wish List’ for Canada’s CANSEC defense

“Ukraine has handed over a list of necessary Canadian goods and technologies to the Canadian government,” Reznikov said in a video address to the participants of Canada’s largest defense exhibition CANSEC, which is taking place in Ottawa.

Ukraine seeks to establish partnerships with Canada and its defense sector companies to ensure the availability of the necessary equipment at the right time and in sufficient quantity, Reznikov stressed.

“Ukraine is now fulfilling the task for which NATO was created: Ukraine is Europe’s shield in the east against the Russian threat,” the minister said.

“We’re destroying a military force directed against European values and freedom.”

The decisions taken today will have a positive impact on European and global security for years to come, he added.

“The fewer Russian weapons, the (less) Russian influence,” he said.

Canada is donating 43 AIM-9 missiles to Ukraine, Canadian Defense Minister Anita Anand announced on May 26.

The Canadian government has sent Ukraine its first batch of demining equipment, worth more than CAD 22.5 million ($16 million), the Canadian embassy in Ukraine said in a statement on May 3.
