Ukraine Grain Ship Docks at Djibouti Port With Shipment Bound for Ethiopia

The MV Brave Commander carrying grain from Ukrainian as part of the UN-backed Black Sea Grain Initiative arrived in Djibouti on August 30, World Food Programme chief David Beasley said.

Footage posted by Beasley shows the ship having “officially docked” at Djibouti.

“The first WFP ship to carry Ukrainian grain since February has just arrived in Djibouti. Now, let’s get this wheat offloaded and on to Ethiopia,” Beasley tweeted.

WFP Africa said the ship was carrying 23,000 tons of wheat and had been sailing from Ukraine for 14 days.

More than one million metric tons of grain and other foodstuffs have been transported under the Black Sea Grain Initiative, the UN said on August 27. Credit: David Beasley via Storyful
