Details: The politician has not ruled out that the Ukrainian authorities might have to cede some territory to Russia in order to end the war, which began with the invasion of Ukraine by Russian troops 16 months ago.

In addition, he said that the Russian president was "somewhat weakened" by the Wagner PMC’s rebellion and that the US should use this moment to negotiate a peaceful settlement between Russia and Ukraine.

"I want people to stop dying over this ridiculous war," Trump said.

"I think the biggest thing that the US should be doing right now is making peace – getting Russia and Ukraine together and making peace," Trump added.

Background: Regarding the war crimes charges brought against Putin by the International Criminal Court last March, Trump said that his fate should be discussed when the war is over, "because right now, if you bring it up, you're never going to get peace, you're never going to get a settlement."
