Ukraine ‘might resume negotiations with Russia around the end of August,’ negotiators say

According to Arakhamia, the negotiations might resume at the end of August after a series of counterattacks by Ukrainian forces.
“We do not want to share our plans with the Russians, because they can find it in open sources. But I think we will carry out a counter-offensive operation in some areas,” the head of the Ukrainian negotiating group said.

“After that, we could move on with the return of the Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, which are temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation and consider making a political agreement,” he added.
The Office of the Ukrainian President reported on May 17 that negotiations with the Russian Federation had been suspended, since there was no significant progress since the earlier Istanbul communiqué.

President Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview earlier said that Ukraine would win the war unleashed by Russia on the battlefield, but the conclusion of the war would be diplomatic. He also said that "there will definitely be a conversation between Ukraine and Russia."
In June, a member of the Russian negotiating group, Leonid Slutsky, said that negotiations with Ukraine could resume in the near future.
