The Ukrainian military requires approximately 200,000 rounds each month to gain an advantage over Russian artillery on the battlefield, according to an assessment by Estonia’s Defense Ministry, published on Dec. 13.

The ministry reminded that of the one million promised by the EU, 300,000 155mm caliber artillery rounds have been delivered to the Ukrainian army so far. Additionally, the United States has sent over two million 155mm rounds, along with a million rounds of various other calibers.

The ministry mentioned that the 155mm rounds used by Ukraine are superior to the Russian 152mm in terms of both rate of fire and accuracy.

According to these estimates, Ukraine's annual need for artillery ammunition to maintain a local firepower advantage over Russia should be 200,000 rounds per month, or 2.4 million rounds per year. However, supplying such numbers would deplete all European and U.S. stockpiles within a year.
