Ukraine's Eurovision organizer, the public broadcaster Suspilne, has officially confirmed Ukraine's participation in Eurovision 2024 in a press release on Aug. 28.

The content will be held in May in Malmö, Sweden. The musical producer for the National Selection competition will once again be undertaken by Ukrainian musician and leader of the band Pianoboy, Dmytro Shurov.

"In a few days, we will start accepting applications for participation in the National Selection and the new season of Eurovision in Ukraine,” Shurov said.

“I encourage everyone to engage; we are in need of crafting and selecting the next song that the nation will take pride in – a song that will capture the hearts of Europe and herald a new Ukrainian star.”

“This year, an exciting surprise awaits you – the opportunity to personally choose one of the finalists.”

Ukraine's participation in Eurovision is important as the contest is a cultural platform that seizes global attention, according to Oksana Skybinska, the head of Ukraine's Eurovision delegation.

"Sweden has consistently demonstrated exemplary expertise in orchestrating this international affair; notably, Eurovision 2016 in Sweden garnered a record-breaking viewership of 204 million,” Skybinska said.

“Ukraine's presence at this global event holds paramount significance, particularly amidst these challenging times of conflict. It grants us the means to convey Ukraine's voice and message to the world."
