The positions of other states will be taken into to account, so long as they are acceptable to Ukraine, but as the war is taking place on Ukrainian territory – Ukraine will have final say on the peace plan.

“There can be neither ‘Brazilian plan’ for peace in Ukraine, nor ‘Chinese plan,’ ‘African plan,’ ‘Vatican plan,’” Zhovkva said.

“Since the war is taking place on the territory of Ukraine, the peace formula should be only Ukrainian. The president of Ukraine is ready to listen to any proposals. Those proposals have been repeatedly announced. But all these proposals, if they are acceptable to the Ukrainian side, should be included in Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s peace formula.”

What is known about the Chinese, Vatican, Brazilian, and African peace formulas

Chinese Foreign Ministry released its 12-point “peace plan” on Feb. 24, outlining its stance on resolving Russia’s war on Ukraine.

In particular, the document calls for ceasing hostilities, resuming direct dialogue between Ukraine and Russia as soon as possible, stopping unilateral sanctions, facilitating grain exports, maintaining the safety of nuclear power plants, and counteracting the use or threat of use of nuclear weapons.

After his visit to Hungary on April 30, Pope Francis announced that the Vatican is taking part in a secret “peace mission” to try and end Russia’s war against Ukraine.

On May 9, the President of Brazil Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said he wants to help Ukraine and Russia strike a happy medium in negotiations to end the war. He said that he had already discussed this initiative with the leadership of China and the United Arab Emirates.

Earlier Lula da Silva called on the United States to end military support to Ukraine. According to him, the United States and the European Union should “start talking about peace.”

On May 16, the leaders of African countries came up with a new initiative for peace in Ukraine. It envisages the start of “negotiations” with Russia, even if the occupation forces do not withdraw from Ukraine.

A “peacekeeping mission” is going to visit Kyiv and Moscow in early June, including the leaders of South Africa, Egypt, Zambia, the Republic of Congo, and Uganda.
