The bodies of another 58 soldiers who lost their lives defending Ukraine from Russia’s full-scale invasion were repatriated to Ukrainian-controlled territory, the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War reported on Feb. 16.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) will oversee the transportation of the bodies and remains to state institutions. These institutions will then collaborate with law enforcement agencies and forensic experts to identify the deceased. Following the identification process, the bodies will be returned to their families for burial.

Ukraine’s SBU security service’s Joint Center, the Internal Affairs Ministry, the AFU, the State Emergency Service, and other security and defense sector representatives also worked on the repatriation efforts for the fallen soldiers.

The International Committee of the Red Cross facilitated this process.
