Ukraine’s SBU opens another case against Russian MP Zhuravlyov

Earlier, Zhuravlyov was charged with violating Ukraine’s territorial integrity by voting to recognize Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts as so-called “people’s republics.”

This time, he is charged with joining paramilitary groups and publicly advocating for a war of aggression.

Since the beginning of the war, Zhuravlyov has regularly visited Russia-occupied part of Donetsk Oblast, where he joined the Pyatnashka terrorist group.

“While in the ranks of the invaders, he inspected temporarily occupied settlements and acted as one of the Kremlin's main newsmakers, joining the broadcasts of propaganda television channels from the front,” the SBU said.

“During propaganda events, Zhuravlyov publicly called for so-called ‘denazification’ and the elimination of two million Ukrainians. In addition, the Russian lawmaker agitated residents of occupied areas of the Donbas to join the forces of the aggressor country.”

Zhuravlyov faces 15 years to life imprisonment for his crimes.

In addition to Zhuravlyov, the SBU also initiated a criminal case against Russian MP Adam Delimkhanov, who is a close ally of Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov.
