Ukraine shoots down 37 attacking Russian cruise missiles, 29 drones overnight

Russia fired a of up to 40 Kh-101/Kh-555 air-launched cruise missiles from nine Tu-95MC strategic bombers flying in the Caspian Sea area. At the same time it also conducted attacks from north and south, launching about 35 suicide drones.

Ukrainian Air Commands Center, East, South and West, in cooperation with the air defenses of other units, destroyed a total of 67 air targets, including:

  • 37 missiles,

  • 29 attack drones,

  • an operational and tactical reconnaissance drone.

The Russian military targeted military objects and civilian crucial infrastructure of Ukraine.

The May 29 overnight was the 15th attack on Kyiv in this month alone. The capital's air defence downed 40 aerial targets. The wreckage of intercepted missiles fell in several Kyiv's districts.

The roof of a house was hit and set ablaze in Podilskyi District as a result of falling debris, luckily without casualties. The latest report is being updated and verified, Kyiv military administration reported.

"The rashist terrorists are doing their best to hit key targets and at the same time deplete the resources of our air defense system," Serhiy Popko, head of Kyiv military administration wrote on Telegram.

“With these constant attacks, the enemy seeks to keep the civilian population in deep psychological tension.”

Port infrastructure was damaged in Odesa Oblast and an outbuilding burned down in Lviv Oblast due to the attack.
