International law allows Ukraine to inflict strikes on the aggressor’s territory in self-defense, Hebestreit said in response to a question from a DW correspondent about the drone attack on Moscow on May 31.

Moscow was attacked by drones on the morning of May 30. Russian propagandists claim that one drone hit the upper floors of a residential building, resulting in the destruction of the facade and shattered windows.

The Russian Ministry of Defense accused Ukraine of the attack, claiming that a total of eight drones were involved, claiming each of them was “eliminated.”

Commenting on the drone strike on Moscow, Mykhailo Podolyak, advisor to the Ukrainian President’s Office, stated sarcastically that the drones “wanted to return to their creators.”
