Dmytro Kuleba, Foreign Minister of Ukraine, believes that Hungary will not interfere with Ukraine's membership in the European Union, since "strategically" it is in Hungarian interests.

Details: Kuleba said that Hungary's public stances and statements, in particular regarding Ukraine's membership in the European Union, can be classified as "artificially created nervousness."

Quote: "Hungary has a very specific goal in this matter. It is connected with the well-known demands of the Hungarians regarding the Hungarian minority, persons belonging to the Hungarian minority in Ukraine," he recalled.

The Foreign Minister believes that Budapest’s strategic interests would be met by Ukraine's membership in the European Union, but "tactically they are trying to capitalise on the current state of the negotiation process."

"As one of President Zelenskyy’s contacts has said, there is enough strength in the European Union that they are not influenced by Orban's handshakes with Putin," Kuleba concluded.

Last week, Dmytro Kuleba, Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, commented on the meeting between Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and Russian President Vladimir Putin in China, expressing the hope that Orban had disinfected his hand afterwards.
