Ukraine's Defence Forces kill group of Russians and destroy equipment on Kinburn Spit

Ukraine’s Defence Forces have killed about 10 Russian invaders and destroyed Russian equipment on the Kinburn Spit in Mykolaiv Oblast over the past 24 hours.

Source: Nataliia Humeniuk, Head of the Joint Press Centre for Operational Command Pivden (South), on air during the national joint 24/7 newscast on 19 January.

Quote: "We continue combat training on positions which the enemy occupies from time to time to attack the Ochakiv front. Our work is quite effective and we have destroyed enemy vehicles and up to 10 enemy troops over the past day. This shows that there’s no peace for them there."

Details: At the same time, Humeniuk explained that Russians can exchange forces for those that are transferred from the left-bank of Kherson Oblast to fire on the Ochakiv and Kutsurub hromadas [an administrative unit designating a town, village or several villages and their adjacent territories – ed.] as long as they have a land access corridor to the Kinburn Spit.

In particular, residential buildings have been destroyed and damaged as a result of an attack on Ochakiv hromada.

The spokesperson for the Joint Press Centre for Operational Command Pivden (South) emphasised that the Russians are continuing to terrorise the civilian population.

Russians fire from multiple-launch rocket systems, including using incendiary ammunition, which is prohibited by the Geneva Convention.

Humeniuk said that the Russians are firing on the coastal zone and trying to damage port infrastructure facilities in Ochakiv.

Background: Operational Command Pivden (South) previously explained that the issue of control over the Kinburn Spit can only be resolved when Kherson Oblast is completely liberated, as the separate liberation of the spit is not advisable.
