Denys Shmyhal, the Prime Minister of Ukraine, and Bridget Brink, the US Ambassador to Ukraine, have discussed at a meeting ways to make the Ukrainian energy system more resistant to Russian missile attacks.

Background: In late November, the US Department of State stated that the US was providing US$53 million for the urgent purchase of equipment necessary for the restoration of the Ukrainian energy system after Russian missile strikes. In mid-December, the United States sent Ukraine the first piece of power equipment worth about US$13 million.
In late December, Dmytro Kuleba, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, said that Ukraine had reached agreements with its partners on hundreds of generators and transformers.
