Ukrainian forces are conducting small combat operations along the lower reaches of the DniproRiver in Kherson Oblast to set up more bridgeheads, according to the latest British Defense Intelligence report on Aug 14.

Theseoperations are aimed at supporting the bridgehead Ukraine has maintained since mid-July 2023, near the ruined Antonivsky Bridge.

Ukrainian soldiers could have taken advantage of the rotation of the Russian troops in the region, the report said. A tug of war for control of small islands in the Dnipro estuary remains ongoing.

"Russian commanders face the dilemma of whether to strengthen this area or to deploy troops in the areas of Ukraine’s main counteroffensive operations, farther to the east," the report stated.

Ukrainian forces landed boats on the left Russia-occupied bank of the Dnipro River near the settlement of Kozachi Tabory on Aug. 8, the ISW reported.

"Ukrainian forces appear to have conducted a limited raid across the Dnipro River and landed on the east bank of Kherson Oblast, although it remains unclear whether Ukrainian troops have established an enduring presence on the east bank," the ISW stated.

TheUkrainian army announced on Aug. 14 that it had conducted a successful operation on the left bank of the Dnipro River, providing no further details.
