He noted that defensive structures in the region as a whole were being erected since the very beginning of the Russian full-scale invasion.

“Recently liberated territories are no exception; under clear coordination with our military command, we are taking additional measures to build defensive fortifications there,” said Kyrylenko.

On Oct. 2, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have completely cleared Lyman, Donetsk Oblast, from Russian troops.

On Oct. 19, Luhansk governor Serhiy Hayday said Russians might soon try to launch a “counteroffensive” towards Lyman.
