Ukrainian border guards tore down a Russian flag during assault repelling on the Donetsk front, the State Border Guard Service reported on Feb. 11.

The Ukrainian troops quickly noticed the tricolor flag that Russian occupying forces had reportedly raised to mark the area as their territory.

“Our soldiers, risking their lives, removed the Russian rag from an unauthorized location and disposed of it,” the post said.

Military command has awarded two border guards in recognition of their decisive action.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled dozens of Russian attacks across multiple fronts in the past 24 hours. The majority of these skirmishes, totaling 100, took place in eastern Ukraine, the General Staff reported.
