Ukrainian boy in Germany assaulted ‘for not speaking Russian’ — report
A 10-year-old Ukrainian boy was assaulted in Germany’s Einbeck, when a man threw him over the railing of a canal bridge, German broadcaster DW reported on Sept. 1.
The report says that a group of Ukrainian children was near the bridge over a small canal in the town, when an unknown man started berating them for speaking Ukrainian. He then demanded they switch to Russian, said that Ukraine started the war with Russia, and reportedly grabbed a girl by her hair.

The man then grabbed the boy and threw him over the railing of the bridge. On his way down, the child hit his head on some metal bars affixed to the bridge. The middle-aged attacker then threw a glass bottle at the boy’s shoulder, before leaving the scene.

After the incident, the public prosecutor's office in Göttingen has initiated investigation into attempted manslaughter. The suspect remains unidentified, his location — unknown.
