Ukrainian canoeist auctions off Olympic medals to help war victims

Yurii Cheban, the two-time Olympic champion and Ukrainian rower-canoeist, has auctioned off his Olympic medals to raise funds to help the victims of the war in Ukraine.

Details: Cheban reported that the famous Olympic boat that he used during the 2016 Summer Olympics was sent to the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine Museum, and his awards were sent to an auction in the USA.

Background: Yurii Cheban is a two-times Olympic champion (2012 and 2016), a bronze medalist of the Olympics (2008), and medalist of world and European championships. He is an Honoured Master of Sports.
