Ukrainian co-produced documentary looks to make history at Academy Awards

It was created by Danish director Simon Lereng Wilmon in the co-production of Denmark, Sweden, Finland, and Ukraine with the support of the Ukrainian State Film Agency.

The film shares the story of children from a special orphanage in eastern Ukraine.

Previously, the Ukrainian co-produced ‘Winter on Fire: Ukraine’s Fight for Freedom’, about the 2013-14 Revolution of Dignity, lost the 2015 Best Documentary Oscar to the British film ‘Amy,’ about Amy Winehouse.

The 95th Academy Awards will be hosted by American television host and comedian Jimmy Kimmel at Los Angeles’ Dolby Theatre.

Presenters for this year’s Oscars include Halle Berry, Harrison Ford, Pedro Pascal, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and John Travolta.

‘Everything Everywhere All at Once,’ with 11 nominations, is this year’s Oscar favorite. ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’ and ‘The Banshees of Inisherin’ have each been nominated for nine awards.
