Ukrainian forces’ successful destruction of Russia’s counter-battery radars a significant setback for invaders

In its summary on Twitter, UK Defense Intelligence reported that on March 23, Ukrainian Special Operations Forces released footage of the destruction of a Russian Zoopark radar in Donetsk Oblast.

During the full-scale war, both sides have directed efforts towards neutralizing enemy counter-battery radars, according to intelligence reports.

While there are relatively few of these systems, they significantly enhance combat capabilities, allowing commanders to quickly detect and strike enemy artillery, UK Defense Intelligence said.

However, since they have an active electromagnetic signature, they are vulnerable to detection and destruction.

According to the intelligence reports, Russia has lost at least six Zoopark-1M stations.

“Regenerating counter-battery radar fleets is likely a key priority for both sides, but Russia will likely struggle because the systems rely on supplies of high-tech electronics which have been disrupted by sanctions,” the UK Defense Intelligence report said.

Earlier, UK intelligence reported that Russia would also have trouble finding additional manpower to replace its losses in Ukraine, and in particular would not be able to attract another 400,000 people as volunteers to the army – its previously reported aim.
