The church will switch to the new calendar, although it will retain the current method for calculating the date of Easter.

For those parishes or individual communities that do not yet feel ready for such a step, the possibility of timing liturgical life according to the Julian calendar until 2025 has been retained.

The Julian calendar, which after some two millennia lags the more modern Gregorian calendar by two weeks due to its inaccuracy, is still used by several Orthodox Christian churches, including the Russian Orthodox Church.
