Ukrainian intelligence denies Belarus plans to invade soon

MID was responding to recent media reports that were suggesting that a joint Russian-Belarusian invasion of northern Ukraine was imminent.
“This information is further amplified by anonymously-sourced hoaxes about massive missile strikes that would come before such an invasion,” the message said.
“We can say these reports are false.”

According to MID, this media activity is directed by Moscow and aims to bait Ukraine into diverting some of its forces to the northern border – away from southern and eastern Ukraine, where fighting is most intense. Russia hopes deployment of Ukrainian troops near Belarusian borders would finally drag Belarus into the war.
Another aim is to spread panic among the Ukrainian population, MID said.

“These reports initially mentioned the date of the purported ‘invasion’ as Nov. 25-28, with only hours later shifting to Nov. 28-29,” MID added, suggesting the disinformation campaign was entirely fabricated.
MID urged Ukrainians to remain calm and reiterated that the currently active Belarusian forces would not be sufficient to pose a credible threat to Ukraine, as it stands.
