Ukrainian Intelligence warns of possible Russian provocations on Victory in Europe Day

HUR representative Andriy Yusov stated that the invaders have used such tactics since 2014, and it is not unlikely that such actions will be repeated.

“In this situation, provocations may be aimed by the Russian special services against the Russian civilian population and may be related to specific dates, such as May 9,” he noted.

He also suggested that Russians may direct provocations against Belarus in order to involve the Belarusian army in a war against Ukraine through a “false flag operation.”

However, he added that no one would believe these sorts of acts anymore, although that does not mean the Russians wouldn’t try it.

Earlier, Russian media reported that this year’s V-E Day parade in St. Petersburg will not feature aviation – more than 20 cities in Russia have decided not to hold parades this year, mainly citing “security reasons.”

Russian authorities have also announced that security measures will be much stronger than in previous years, although they did not disclose details on what those security measures would entail.
