One of Ukraine’s domestically made Bohdana self-propelled howitzers withstood a direct hit from a Russian Lancet kamikaze drone, as seen in photos published by defense contractor Ukrainian Armor on Feb. 16.

The company’s statement specified that the howitzer’s armor saved the lives of its crew. The images show the vehicle sustained significant damage but remained intact.

Bohdana is a 155mm self-propelled howitzer designed to meet NATO standards and was the first Ukrainian artillery system to use 155mm shells. Until 2022, the Ukrainian army was equipped with Soviet-era weapons of 152mm caliber.

In June 2022, the howitzers played a “significant role” in liberating Snake Island in the Black Sea, according to a statement made by the Defense Ministry at the time.
