The Zaporizhzhya Separate Territorial Defense Brigade on Facebook on June 12 announced the liberation of the village, which actually occurred on June 4, at what is believed to be the start of the counter-offensive – the Ukrainian military has said it would not announce the start of the operation to liberate more Ukrainian territory.

“Numerous attempts by the enemy to regain control of the settlement, which have lasted for several days, have been unsuccessful. The brigade units continue to achieve success,” the brigade said.

The details of the operation were not disclosed by the Ukrainian military.

The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) on June 11 reported local successes by Ukrainian forces in the western part of Zaporizhzhya Oblast during counterattacks to the southwest and southeast of the city of Orikhiv.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense reminded that they only report on the progress of the Ukrainian Armed Forces after the consolidation of their positions.

Valerii Shershen, the spokesperson for the Joint Press Center of the Defense Forces of the Tavria direction, revealed during an interview with Radio NV that following the destruction of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant and dam, the occupiers were attempting to destroy other, smaller reservoirs and dams. Russian forces blew up a protective hydrostructure near the settlement of Novodarivka, resulting in flooding on both banks of the Mokri Yaly River, he said. However, according to him, this did not affect the advancement of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Ukraine’s Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Malyar reported on June 11 that Ukrainian military had liberated the villages of Makarivka in Donetsk Oblast and Blahodatne in Donetsk Oblast.

On June 12, it became known that the village of Storozheve had been liberated as well.
