Ukraine got these SAMs no later than March-April 2023, as well as at least one PS-70 radar station for them, Ukraine's military outlet Defense Express concluded.

Ukrainian soldiers are now able to detect targets at a distance of up to 40 km and at an altitude of up to 10 km.

RBS 70 is the world's first MANPAD with a laser guidance system, making its detection difficult. It means the system is more resistant to electronic warfare, as well as artificial and natural obstacles. It allows the user to eliminate enemy planes and other targets, even those flying in the opposite direction and actively maneuvering.

"The RBS 70 fits, by its characteristics, between MANPADS and 'classic' short-range surface-to-air missile systems, and it is really interesting to know which of the three modifications of this system the Ukrainian Armed Forces received," the outlet wrote.

Compared to Stinger, Igla, or Mistral, the RBS 70 has a significant advantage in range. The ability to hit targets more than 4-5 km away allows the gun to provide air defence in those cases where other MANPADS are helpless, the brigade wrote.
