Ukrainian pilots may be trained to fly F-15 and F-16 fighter jets in the United States.

This amendment to the US defence budget bill for the fiscal year 2023 was supported by the House of Representatives.

They plan to allocate US$100 million for this purpose."

Background: The US House of Representatives passed a bill on the US defence budget for 2023 which allocates US$1 billion in funding to ensure the security of Ukraine.

Congress members also approved an amendment to allocate US$100 million for a training programme for Ukrainian pilots.

To enter into force, the law must be passed by the Senate and signed by the president of the United States. The Senate is expected to agree on it in the near future.
