Ukrainian soldiers complete training in Spain

The troops completed a five-week basic training course at the Toledo Infantry Academy as part of the European Union Mission for Military Assistance in Support of Ukraine (EUMAM).

On April 3, Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles and the Chief of Defense Staff, Admiral General Teodoro Lopez Calderon, handed over training completion diplomas to the Ukrainian soldiers.

As of April 3, more than 600 Ukrainian soldiers have finished their military training in Spain.

This was the third batch of Ukrainian service members trained by the Spanish Armed Forces since November 2022. Spain previously said it has the capacity to train 2,000 Ukrainian troops a year.

The program, which was approved by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, focused on five areas of expertise: basic training, marksmanship, urban combat, first aid, as well as skills to defuse IEDs and landmines.
