STORY: The helicopter crashed on Wednesday during heavy fog. Fourteen people were killed including Ukraine’s interior minister, Denys Monastyrskyi. One child was among the fatalities and 11 other children were hurt, officials said.
Standing in the grounds of the school alongside broken windows and playground toys, Opre said the reality of what happened was just beginning to sink in.
“Today, it is only today that I started crying. Yesterday, we were like robots," she said.
A police spokesperson said on Thursday that the minister had been flying to a location near the frontline in the war against Russia.
She said it was too early to say what caused the crash, but Ukrainian officials have not blamed it on Russia.
