ULM athletics names Mike Hammett as new voice of the Warhawks
When fans tune into Louisiana-Monroe football games this season they'll hear a new but familiar voice for the Warhawks.
Mike Hammett, who has been the voice behind the play-by-play for women's basketball and baseball, will now add football and men's basketball as well as the Hawk Talk with coaches Terry Bowden, Keith Richard and Michael Federico.
“I’m thrilled to become the next voice of the Warhawks,” Hammett said in a school release. “It has been a life-long dream of mine to broadcast college athletics at the highest level, and this opportunity achieves that goal."

Hammett joined the ULM staff and radio network in 2018 after filling a similar role for Southwestern Oklahoma State University. He also serves as the associate director of athletic communications at ULM, working closely with volleyball, beach volleyball, soccer, cross country, men's and women's tennis, men’s and women’s golf, men’s basketball, baseball and track and field.
Nick White, The former play-by-play voice of ULM football and men's basketball, is transitioning from radio to television. He becomes the play-by-play voice for ULM football, men's and women's basketball and softball for ESPN+ beginning on Sept. 10 when the Warhawks host Nicholls.
"Mike has earned this opportunity,” White said. “When I hired him back in 2018, there was no doubt in my mind that he deserved a chance to become the voice of a Division I FBS program. Having Mike here and in place made my decision to switch to the TV booth that much easier. I am so happy for him, and I know that the Warhawk faithful will be in great hands.”
