The countdown to Halloween is on, but Charlotte is already getting in the spooky season spirit with activities and events leading up to the holiday all month long.

From scary movie screenings and bar crawls to costume parties and concerts, mark your calendar for these Charlotte-area events that’ll make you feel like you’re in “Halloweentown”:

Black Lagoon Pop-Up at Backstage Lounge

Kick off spooky season with specialty cocktails and creepy decor at the Black Lagoon Pop-up at Backstage Lounge. For the month of October, the local cocktail bar has transformed into a dark, dungeon-like space with skulls, coffins and other Halloween elements. While you’re there, check out its new lineup of drinks, including the Book of Blood margarita and the Night Crawler whiskey cocktail.

Candlelight concerts

Jam out to the soundtracks from classic scary movies at Fever’s Halloween Candlelight concerts. From The “Addams Family” and “Beetlejuice” to “Ghostbusters” and more, there will be a long lineup of fan-favorite songs performed by local musicians in venues illuminated by thousands of candles. Spooky Movie Sunday Series

Catch a classic scary movie every Sunday at Northlake Mall. As part of the Spooky Movie Sunday Series, you can sign up online to see “The Addams Family,” “A Nightmare on Elm Street” and “Beetlejuice.

Billy Sunday Murder Mystery Pop-Up Bar

Lights, Camera, Birkdale

Enjoy a spooky movie night in the Plaza at Birkdale Village with an outdoor screening of “Hocus Pocus.” The free event is first come-first serve, so grab a blanket and takeout from one of the restaurants in the shopping center for the monthly movie event.

Matthews Playhouse Haunted Trail

Matthews Playhouse of the Performing Arts is bringing back its Haunted Trail spooky outdoor experience again with trunk-or-treating, food trucks, crafts and more. This year, there will also be kid-friendly version of the Haunted Trail during from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Boos & Brews at Hoppin’

Hoppin’ Charlotte’s sixth annual Boos & Brews event is back this year. Dress up in your favorite costume and enjoy a night of spooky music, Halloween-themed food and drinks, plus a costume contest with prizes.

Rich & Bennett’s Annual Halloween Pub Crawl

Charlotte’s first and biggest Halloween bar crawl will be back in uptown this year. Sign up for Rich & Bennett’s Annual Halloween Pub Crawl and get drink specials from nearly 25 participating bars, along with other giveaways, swag, costume contest prizes and more. You can buy tickets online.

RSVP House of Horrors

RSVP is turning into a House of Horrors for Halloween with unique themes and decor in each space. Head to the rooftop for a haunted cowboy hoedown, the stage for a glow party, the veranda for a graveyard bash and the parlor for their take on the Upside Down, from the “Stranger Things” series.

Goldie’s Ghostly Groove
