Get your umbrellas ready! We’re getting some rain in Fort Worth and North Texas

Finally, after 38 days of no measurable rainfall, some rain is coming to North Texas.

It won’t be everywhere, but the National Weather Service in Fort Worth said rain is coming to Fort Worth and other North Texas areas this afternoon, bringing cooler temperatures for all. Radar indicated rainfall was beginning around 4 p.m. in parts of north Fort Worth.

Around 3:30 p.m., rain storms reached the Denton and Dallas areas and were expected to continue moving south. The strongest storms as of that time were over Briar and the strongest recorded wind gusts were 50 mph in downtown Dallas.

Chances for precipitation are expected to continue into the week. Tuesday night, rain could hit certain areas while others have partly cloudy skies. Wednesday and Thursday will have more partly cloudy skies and chances of rain.

The National Weather Service said 40% of the region should expect a quarter inch of rain, 17% a half inch of rain and 2% a full inch.

Temperatures for the week are expected to be “near normal,” according to the National Weather Service. Morning lows should be expected in the 70s to 80s, with highs this week in the 90s and 100s. The highest chance of rain will come Thursday before dwindling off to nothing on Monday.
