UMC Children's Hospital in Lubbock welcomes first baby of 2024

UMC Children's Hospital in Lubbock welcomed its first baby of 2024 at 2:23 a.m. Monday, Jan. 1.

Caesey James Muse was born weighing 7 pounds, 10 ounces, according to a statement from UMC Health System.

His parents are Christyanne Cavazos and Bryan Muse and said they had an incredible start to 2024.

"Both mother and baby are doing very well this morning and look forward to bringing their new addition home soon," reads a statement from UMC.

Covenant Health in Lubbock did not immediately announce a first baby of the year from its hospital.

Three minutes prior to Muse's arrival, BSA Health System in Amarillo welcomed its first baby of the New Year.

Sterling Ward was born at 2:20 a.m. Monday to Kacey and Denton Ward. He weighed 8pounds, 5 ounces. The parents received a congratulatory basket from BSA to celebrate the birth.
