UN General Assembly supports Russian war reparations
94 countries voted in favor of the resolution, 14 voted against, and 73 abstained.

Belarus, Bahamas, Central African Republic, China, Cuba, North Korea, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Iran, Mali, Nicaragua, Russia, Syria, and Zimbabwe voted against.
The resolution recognizes the need to create an international mechanism for Russia compensating the damage its aggressive war has caused.

The document recommends that UN members, in cooperation with Ukraine, create an “international register” to document claims and information about the damage done to Ukrainians by Russia's actions.

The document is advisory in nature.
In September, Ukrainian PM Denys Shmyhal said that Kyiv estimates about $300-500 billion of Russian assets frozen in various countries could be used to fund Ukraine’s post-war recovery.
