Reminiscent of Saturday night, early crowds at Game 2 of the Kings’ playoff series at Golden 1 Center on Monday saw a sea of purple.

Monday night’s game will be the Sacramento team’s first playoff appearance since Saturday; prior to that, it has not seen a playoff court since 2006.

The Kings beat the Warriors 126-123 in Game 1 on Saturday, something they look to do again Monday night. Mike Brown, the team’s head coach, said it would be harder to do so now that the Warriors lost the first game of the series.

“When you go down, you’re wounded a little bit, especially if you’re a champion like they (the Warriors) are,” Brown said during a pregame news conference. “Wounded animals, wounded people, when they’re fighting, their desperation increases. Their intensity increases.”

The Kings will don their black uniforms against the Bay Area team in Game 2, according to The Sacramento Bee’s Chris Biderman.

Is there a bet between Sacramento, SF mayors?

During a pregame show, Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg said he tried to bet San Francisco Mayor London Breed on the outcome of the game, but she wouldn’t do it.

Speaking on NBC Sports Bay Area’s pregame telecast, Steinberg said he was going to offer a dinner at Mulvaney’s B&L or to wear a Warriors jersey.

“But she didn’t want to do it,” Sacramento’s mayor said. “I’m not making any comment about, you know, about why, but I know I was willing to put up, you know.”

A spokesperson for Breed’s office could not be immediately reached.

‘I might need to wear earplugs’

Sacramento native Taylor Cummings, 29, said Friday night at a rally fan event that he has tickets for Game 2. Before that, he said he has not been to a Kings playoff game since they faced the Mavericks in 2004.

“Back in Arco (Arena), it was so loud you could feel the noise,” Cummings said. “I guarantee you that’s how it’s going to be these next games. I’m an adult thinking I might need to wear earplugs. It’s just going to be unbelievable, and you’re going to have a whole Kings nation who will have no voices left on Monday or Tuesday at work. Honestly, I think that there’s a chance that it gets so loud that you might look up and go, ‘Boy, that section is wobbling.’”

The Kings are favorites of many celebrities and organizations, including Charles Barkley and the Jacksonville Jaguars.

“I just — I like Sacramento,” said Trevor Lawrence, Jaguars quarterback, on the team’s official twitter account.
