ASHEVILLE - After heading the school for four years, UNC Asheville Chancellor Nancy Cable is planning to step down at the end of the year.

Her last day as chancellor will be Dec. 31. She will serve “in an advisory capacity on an on-call basis to the Interim Chancellor through July 31, 2023,” according to a UNCA news release.

She announced her intentions to step down at an Oct. 12 trustee board meeting, the release says.

In January, Cable will be taking a new job in Chapel Hill as the executive director of the William R. Kenan, Jr. Charitable Trust, it says.

“I am deeply grateful for the privilege and honor to have been a partner in advancing the energy, vitality and quality of this extraordinary institution,” she added.
