UNC basketball's battle for its NCAA Tournament life goes into the quarterfinal round of the ACC Tournament on Thursday against No. 11 Virginia at the Greensboro Coliseum.

After splitting their two regular-season games, the No. 7-seeded Tar Heels (20-12) meet the No. 2-seeded Cavaliers (23-6) at 7 p.m. for a chance to reach the semifinals and a matchup against the NC State-Clemson winner.

Virginia's three-pronged attack of Reece Beekman, Kihei Clark and Armaan Franklin comes in averaging a combined 33.0 points, 12.7 rebounds and 12.4 assists. But it's the Cavaliers' defense that is the best in the ACC and ranks ninth nationally, giving up an average of 60.5 points per game.

UNC will look to the scoring prowess of team leaders Caleb Love (16.8 ppg), Armando Bacot (16.3) and RJ Davis (15.9) to get past the Cavs and a step closer to the NCAA field.
