UNC campus goes on lockdown for second time in two weeks + Wells Fargo plans more job cuts

1. Suspect arrested after UNC locked down for ‘armed and dangerous person’

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill issued an emergency alert at 12:54 p.m. today for an “armed and dangerous person on or near campus.”

It was the second such alert issued by the university in less than two weeks. An “all clear” message was sent at 2:12 p.m.

2. Wells Fargo says it plans more job cuts a day after Truist disclosed major layoffs plan

A top Wells Fargo official said to expect more layoffs at the bank and a decrease in office space.

This move comes as the bank looks to continue to reduce expenses. Yesterday, Truist announced $750 million in “sizable” layoffs and other cuts to reduce expenses.

3. CMS staff hurt, students arrested during fight at Charlotte Mecklenburg Academy

An investigation is underway after a fight broke out on the campus of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Academy.

Principal Michael Turner told families in an email the fight involved several students, requiring law enforcement intervention and that several staff received minor injuries while attempting to “diffuse the situation.”

4. Panhandlers’ plight: They’ve lived at this intersection for years. Is there any way out?

Because a lot of people don’t want to give money to men like them — panhandlers, that is — for basically doing nothing but asking for it.
