UNC Charlotte architecture school renamed for local real estate executive

A major donation from David Ravin, president and CEO of Northwood Ravin, to UNC Charlotte’s School of Architecture will put his name on the front door while helping the university fund key initiatives.

The gift will help pay for an innovative housing and development program, help students pay for study abroad and back awareness and visibility campaigns to raise the school’s profile, administrators said.

Neither Ravin nor the school disclosed the amount of his donation.

The architecture school will now be known as the David R. Ravin School of Architecture. Ravin graduated from UNC Charlotte in 1994 with a bachelor’s degree in architecture and a minor in geography. He went on to earn master’s degrees in architecture from the University of Michigan and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
