UNC Health Caldwell holds annual Camp Med

Jun. 30—LENOIR — UNC Health Caldwell welcomed 20 Caldwell County high school students for its annual Camp Med program this week. The Camp Med program encourages students to explore the world of health care and educates them on potential careers in the field. Students are chosen from a pool of applicants that includes all Caldwell County high schools. The Camp Med program began Monday, June 26th and ended Friday, June 30th.

The program's activities covered all areas of health care, surgery to diagnostic imaging. Students also participated in a community service project that provided cancer patients at the McCreary Cancer Center with ChapStick and encouraging messages. At the conclusion of the program, students shared their experiences at a graduation ceremony.

"Being at Camp Med allowed me to see that I enjoy working with cancer patients at McCreary Cancer Center" said Jacorian Logan, a Camp Med Student, during his graduation presentation.

"Camp Med is a great opportunity for students that are considering a career in health care. They have a weeklong, immersive experience that allows them to see how important health and wellness is in Caldwell County as well as how they can influence the future of health care in our community and beyond. Each year, it is exciting to meet and interact with such bright, dedicated students. I know that the future of health care in Caldwell County is in good hands," said Christina Good, Human Resources executive at UNC Health Caldwell.
